AI Breathing Life into Continuous Safety Processes

Transport systems are increasingly being developed through continuous development processes. Data from the field is constantly fed into error corrections, performance improvements and new or enhanced functionalities. This also changes the requirements for safety verification: rather than considering a fixed end product, safety and safety-related characteristics must be continuously verified and monitored throughout the entire life cycle.

The 37th SafeTRANS Industrial Day is dedicated to exploring the role that artificial intelligence can play in shaping such continuous safety processes. The focus is on AI-supported methods for the creation and updating of safety verifications, the development of safety architectures and mechanisms, and the monitoring of systems in the field. Further topics include the monitoring of operational domains and environments (ODD), intelligent data collection, and the combination of virtual testing, simulations, physical testing and live operation.

Building on the discussions at the 36th SafeTRANS Industrial Day on AI-supported critical systems engineering, the event will focus in particular on the advantages and disadvantages of AI support in safety demonstrations and field monitoring of continuously developed, updatable systems. The event provides a forum for discussion on current approaches, future developments and the challenges that still remain for AI-based continuous safety processes.

Following the 37th SafeTRANS Industrial Day, we will be celebrating SafeTRANS’s 20th anniversary on Friday, 11th December 2026 at the Representation of the State of Lower Saxony in Berlin. A separate invitation will be sent out for this event.
